According to information distributed by the Secretariat of Labor and
Social Security, in Zacatecas, there are about 49 thousand 300 child
workers under 15 years of age. According to statistics there is a high index of children who work to help families in household expenses, despite the provision of the Law on Child Labour.
60% of children in this situation work on farms.
Trade activities constitute the second category with the largest presence of underage workers, mainly in shops and local businesses.
In Zacatecas, out of 4,000 companies, only 14 have the "Mexico without child labor" trademark.
